The Reno Fire Department has extinguished a fire in the 500 block of 2nd Street. Flames were reported at the Frenchman's Station residence motel shortly after 11AM November 1, 2018. Firefighters say it was a kitchen fire that caused extensive damage to one unit. The resident has been taken to a hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation; two birds were rescued and are okay. There is no word yet what caused the fire. 2nd Street is closed between Park and High streets during the firefighting operation.
