Former Carson City fire chief wins seat on Board of Supervisors

The winners of the 2018 contested Carson City elections are Stacey Giomi for Carson City Board of Supervisors Ward 1, Kristin Luis for Carson City Justice of the Peace Department 2, and Kenny Furlong for Carson City Sheriff. Stacey Giomi is taking the place of Supervisor Karen Abowd, who decided not to run for a third term. Giomi joined the Carson City Fire Department in 1983 as a dispatcher and then firefighter. He then became Fire Chief in 2005, and retired from the department in 2015. Since leaving the fire department Giomi has worked as the Director of Facilities and Emergency Preparedness at Nevada Health Center, Inc. He currently serves at the Director of Operations for Rural Programs. The statewide nonprofit provides health services to uninsured, under-insured and the homeless in Nevada.
