A dog has died and a person was taken to a hospital after a fire broke out Thursday morning at a central valley apartment complex, according to a Clark County Fire Department official. Crews responded to a complex on the 3900 block of Spencer Street, near Flamingo Road and Maryland Parkway, at about 2:45 a.m. Thursday, Assistant Fire Chief Dan Heenan said in an email. Firefighters found a fire in a ground-floor unit's bedroom, and they were able to knock it down in a few minutes.
