It was on the night of November 10, 2018, when two men made the selfless decision that would cost them their lives.
43-year-old Rodolfo Torres and 57-year-old Brian Morris, both Reno residents, got out of their cars to help with a crash at the corner of Mount Rose Highway and Thomas Creek Road. It was then when another driver lost control, and hit one of the vehicles at the scene, killing Torres and Morris.
“This is an example of human selflessness that needs to be memorialized in our community,” said Truckee Meadows Fire Chief Charles Moore, who presided over Tuesday’s ceremony at the Washoe County Commission chamber.
The Citizens Medal of Honor was posthumously awarded to Torres and Morris. Their families were on hand to receive the awards – which were given out for the selflessness the men displayed.
