The battle between Watertown City Council candidate Todd DeMar and Watertown City Hall has a new chapter, one that has the city fire captain banned from the building.
The latest development came through a letter addressed to DeMar by City Manager Sharon Addison dated last Wednesday.
The letter, which DeMar has released publicly, accuses him of being disruptive and intimidating to City Hall employees. It also accuses him of trying to talk to Mayor Jeff Graham face to face at City Hall without an appointment and without going through the proper chain of command.
Addison goes on in the letter to call the conduct disrespectful to Mayor Graham and call DeMar's behavior "unprofessional, threatening, and disruptive" to those working in the City Manager's office. Addison writes "your behavior and lack of respect for an elected official will not be tolerated."
As a result, DeMar is now barred from entering City Hall from 9 am to 5 pm unless he is in uniform and conducting official city business. Otherwise, Addison says staff has been instructed to call police.
DeMar's recent interaction with Mayor Graham came as a result of private employment information concerning DeMar that was posted in the comment section of Graham's online blog. The info has since been removed. The leaking of that information has become the focus of a police investigation.
