Some funky smelling smoke greeted firefighters early Tuesday morning.
Flames tore through what may have been a marijuana grow house at 23 Park Hill Ave., police said.
Four firefighters suffered minor injuries battling what officials are calling a suspicious apartment fire in a three-story building at the corner of School Street.
The fire broke out about 5:30 a.m. on the top floor, which was heavily damaged, Assistant Fire Chief Brian Travers said. Firefighters got the blaze under control in about 15 minutes, he said.
Authorities found items consistent with a marijuana grow house, including a lot of soil and some potting materials, said Detective Lt. Patrick McCormack, police spokesman. No marijuana plants were found in the severely burned apartment, he said.
