Long-time Cumberland Head Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief Art Brault died at his home Tuesday night.
Plattsburgh Town Supervisor Michael Cashman said Brault reportedly had responded to an emergency call earlier that evening. He was found unresponsive by a family member who checked to see if he was going to respond to a subsequent call.
In addition to more than 25 years as fire chief, Brault was a town employee for 15 years, Cashman said.
He was presently superintendent of the Buildings and Grounds Department.
"Today we began mourning Art as a colleague, friend and leader," Cashman said. "His dedication and service to the town will always be remembered.
"Our condolences go out to his family, friends and fellow firefighters."
