Firefighters were kept busy on Wednesday morning battling a boat fire at the Thousand Island Club Marina on Wellesley Island, and responding to a second blaze later in the day that extensively damaged a marine construction company in Clayton. Emergency responders were called to the Thousand Islands Club at 10:15 a.m. after a boat called “Game Over” caught fire. No other boats were damaged, and no one was injured. First responders said that another person on the dock reported the fire. Firefighters from Alexandria Bay and Wellesley Island were working with hoses and chain saws to eliminate “hot spots” where a fire might start again. “Game Over” was considered a total loss.
