Volunteer firefighters stood together at the Chittenango Fire Department Thursday to fight for cancer insurance coverage. Many volunteer firefighters are not currently covered by their health insurance for cancer treatments. A proposed bill would close the gap in coverage for firefighters diagnosed with any form of cancer associated with exposure to smoke and toxins. The bill passed in the state Senate and Assembly and is being sent to the governor.
