A fast-moving fire that damaged an old Hancock residential building Thursday was extinguished within a half-hour, according to firefighters.
The alarm sounded at 10:35 a.m., sending firefighters in Delaware County to the structure on Benedict Road in the Town of Hancock. The first firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes of the 911 dispatch.
According to Hancock firefighters, responders performed an "aggressive defensive attack" on the blaze, but then multiple explosions were reported inside. Firefighters switched to a "defensive attack" due to the heavy fire conditions.
A bulk of the fire was knocked down within 30 minutes, officials said. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was not immediately reported by authorities.
Firefighters from East Branch, Deposit, Walton and Northern Wayne assisted Hancock at the scene.
