A 15-year-old girl escaped serious injury Monday after becoming trapped under a construction van outside of Mamaroneck High School, according to authorities.
Just before 9 a.m., police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the West Boston Post Road school on a report that a child had been run over, said Fire Chief Tracey Schmaling.
The student told authorities she was feeling dizzy, so she went to lie down on a grassy hill outside of the school, not realizing a contractor's van was nearby, Schmaling said.
A few minutes later, the driver came out of the school to move the vehicle closer to the building and accidentally drove over the teen, the fire chief said.
