A common thread ties the Flint water crisis, 2017 Presidential Inauguration, and recent hurricanes all back to Syracuse.
Tim Gleeson works for the city as a Fire Captain, but when major emergencies happen across the United States, he's employed by the federal government as a member of an Incident Response Coordination team.
"To be able to respond to a community when truly they are in need- and we've seen that in unprecedented ways this year- there's a lot of reward in that," Captain Gleeson said.
Gleeson got the job after wanting to work with disaster relief efforts. He's been involved for the past four years.
"It does effect you when you see people who have true need," Gleeson said.
