Firefighter injured responding to house on Lighthouse Hill in Staten Island

A firefighter suffered minor injuries Monday evening responding to a home on Lighthouse Hill, according to a FDNY spokesman. The fire originated in the basement of the two-story house at 273 Lighthouse Avenue, which according to a FDNY source on scene was undergoing renovations. The injured firefighter was transported to Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze, the spokesman said. No civilians were injured, according to authorities. About a dozen units responded at about 4:38 p.m. to the two-story house at 273 Lighthouse Avenue, where smoke and flames damaged the basement and first floor, the spokesman said. Multiple fire trucks remained on scene, along with a sanitation truck for debris, at about 6:15 p.m.
