As discussions begin for compiling the Lee fire district’s proposed 2019 budget, a local tax rate increase is anticipated by town Board of Fire Commissioners Chairman Brian Mandryck.
The budget will “probably see at least some type of tax increase” in the 2019 spending plan, based on certain ongoing expenses plus some additional considerations, Mandryck said Friday. Budget preparations were noted at the board’s meeting last week, he added. Among other meeting topics, the board expressed appreciation for town resident Eric Centro’s donation of drainage floor-grate replacements at the Lee Center firehouse that his welding business had quoted at $1,800; and approved equipment purchases for the Lee Center Volunteer Fire Department including vehicle extrication apparatus and a defibrillator, to replace current items.
