Commack Pizzeria Evacuated After Carbon Monoxide Leak

A Commack pizzeria was evacuated on Wednesday night after a carbon monoxide leak on Wednesday night. The Commack Fire Department and Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to reports of an odor and people feeling ill at Anthony's Coal Fire Pizza on 6401 Jericho Turnpike at about 8 p.m. The restaurant was evacuated of customers and employees. Firefighters found high levels of carbon monoxide in the restaurant and in the Chocolate Works store next door. Both businesses are located in the Peppertree Commons Shopping Center at the intersection of Town Line Road. In addition, 7 other patients experiencing headaches from both Anthony's and the Chocolate store were evaluated by Commack EMS personnel at the scene. About 65 responders from were on the scene.
