New equipment donated to the Watkins Glen fire department will allow them to treat animals on scene that are suffering from smoke inhalation. As part of invisible fences 45th anniversary, they allowed communities to nominate their fire house to get a free pet resuscitation kit. Watkins glen fire department is one of 45 fire houses in the U.S to receive the special safety kit. Monday night the firefighters learned how to use the pet mask and the new equipment they received. There's three different masks for small medium and large dogs as well as the o2 lines to hook up to o2, tanks. The fire house also received a small leash that you can use to pull a dog out from under a piece of furniture and they received a set of stickers that you can put on the truck and on the box so that everyone knows where the kit is at. More than 40-thousand dogs and cats die each year from smoke inhalation and firefighters in Watkins glen say this will give the animals a fighting chance.
