A 26-year fire veteran died last week after returning home from a fire call.
According to several Facebook posts, Cold Spring Fire Department firefighter Richard Tomlins Jr. died “suddenly and unexpectedly” after battling a blaze.
An obituary for Tomlins said he was a “lifelong jokester” and a “loving and caring friend, companion and relative.”
“Our deepest condolences go out to his daughter Sophie, his family and his extended family at the Cold Spring Fire Department,” Volunteer Firefighters of America said. “Thank you for your years of dedication to the volunteer fire service.”
