A woman died and her visitor was burned extensively Monday night after they ran through the flames of a Warren County house to get free.
Authorities got a 911 call at 10:40 p.m. about the fire at 2361 Route 28 in Bakers Mills.
Sheriff's deputies and firefighters found the two victims near the house after their escape. Both suffered extensive burn injuries and were treated at the scene by emergency medical squads.
Tina M. Parker, 49, a resident was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital, then to the burn unit at Westchester Medical Center. She died late Tuesday morning, deputies said.
Peter W. Stewart, 51, who was visiting Parker, was taken to Albany Med. Deputies said attempts to determine his status and condition were unsuccessful.
