The firefighter who allegedly burned down a historic barn here and set several other grass fires in the area has been ejected from Ticonderoga Volunteer Fire Department, the chief said.
The 18-year-old, whose name is being withheld because he has been granted youthful offender status, was arrested June 18 and charged with third-degree arson, a felony, and fifth-degree arson, a misdemeanor.
He allegedly set fire to the barn at 7 McCaughin Road and is suspected in connection with four grass fires in the months before his arrest, Ticonderoga Police Department Chief Mike Mawn said previously.
The barn blaze was immediately determined suspicious, and the teen was suspended then from the Fire Department.
He has since had his membership revoked.
“This action is not acceptable nor tolerated by our members, and appropriate action has been taken," Fire Chief Matthew Watts said in a statement.
