The Ticonderoga volunteer firefighter who was arrested Monday for allegedly setting a fire that destroyed a barn remained in jail Tuesday as authorities continue to investigate his involvement in other recent fires. Police would not release the firefighter’s name Monday, arguing that he was a possible youthful offender. But public records identify him as Riley J. O’Hara, 18, of Putnam. O’Hara was charged with felony arson in connection with an early morning fire that destroyed a barn on McCaughin Road, and police are investigating whether he was responsible for a fire May 26 that destroyed a garage on the property and damaged a nearby home. No injuries were reported, and the barn was not home to livestock.
