A man and two children died in a house fire on Home Street in Elmira Saturday night.
Crews responded to the home around 11 p.m. after reports of a structure fire with possible entrapment.
Firefighters spotted heavy smoke on the second floor of the home, and upon entry were faced with fire, heavy smoke, and structural difficulties.
The blaze was quickly put out upon entry into the home.
The three victims were transported to Arnot Ogden Medical Center and died from their injuries.
The victims have been identified as Samuel Sheridan, 29, Trinity Sheridan, 5, and Omar Sheridan, 6.
One firefighter was injured while removing a victim.
The Southport Fire Department, Erway Police Department, and Elmira Police Department assisted in fighting the fire.
Chemung County Emergency Management and New York State Fire Investigators are currently investigating the cause.
