"This is the fire station that would respond to an emergency if i had one god forbid at my house so it means a lot to me personally and i think it means a lot to this community because the existing fire station the couple we had were not enough" said Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh.
The Burnt Hills Fire Department, staffed by volunteers has been helping to save lives from multiple locations for more than a century. One firehouse is located on Saratoga Road and the other on Lake Hill Road. Many of the people at the ceremony said said it's time for the necessary change.
"We were living in a 1500 square foot north end station, station 2, and this is going to be approximately 6700 square feet. So we'll have some breathing room, we'll be able to do drills, hose loads, work on trucks instead of a 100 years outside" said Greg Bradtke, Asst. Fire Chief in Burnt Hills.
