Shannon Rabideau was on her way home from work Wednesday afternoon when she saw the blaze at Sunset Efficiency Apartments.
"I noticed how quickly it was spreading across the apartment building," she said. "I went up to the doors and started pounding and yelling to let people know their building was on fire."
And Rabideau called 911 on her cellphone, after property owner Pete Bedard had trouble with his own.
Wednesday night, as he watched firefighters soaking an apartment where flames had burst back to life again, he was glad to learn Rabideau's name.
He hadn't had a chance to thank her, he said. Bedard had been burning some brush near the south end of the complex, by his own apartment.
