Syracuse Firefighters Local 280 distributed 180 coats to children at P.E.A.C.E. Headstart Preschool Program Thursday, as part of their Operation Warm fundraiser.
They started the program in Syracuse last year when they saw how many children were walking around without winter coats.
"We try to bring some warmth and we try to do that to the children and our way of doing that is providing children of need with coats, hats and gloves," said Paul Montondo, president of Syracuse Local 280.
Each student received a personalized winter coat, gloves and a hat. They were also able to tour the inside of a fire truck.
"We just read a firefighter book and what firefighters do and how they help people and I think that makes the children excited," said teacher Phoenix Dix.
