City police on Tuesday charged Christopher M. Sharland, 36, of 715 Riverside Ave., with first-degree coercion, second-degree strangulation and first-degree reckless endangerment, all felonies, and the misdemeanors of third-degree assault, second-degree menacing, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, second-degree reckless endangerment, aggravated driving while intoxicated and reckless driving. He was also issued unspecified traffic tickets.
Police charge on Oct. 11 in the parking lot of the Ogdensburg Fire Department, Mr. Sharland threatened firefighters and attempted to ram the fire station with his vehicle, then left the fire department upon patrols’ arrival.
Following a traffic stop, Mr. Sharland fled on foot and was taken into custody following a brief foot pursuit, police said.
