An 11-month-old baby girl was rescued by a neighbor from a house fire Wednesday afternoon in Syracuse. Fire officials say the call came in around 2:30 p.m. for a fire at 217 Genesee Park Drive. Ruberta Rodriguez said she was napping with her 11-month-old daughter at the time when she woke up and smelled smoke. Rodriguez said she opened the front door and saw the fire on the porch and attempted to put out the fire with her hose. Two neighbors rushed over to help. One called 911, and the other went inside to get the baby. “I was extremely scared I had no idea what was going on and when I opened up my front door it was a film of smoke and fire," Rodriguez said. Firefighters say the fire was put out within ten minutes and was contained to the porch.
