With regular clients like Kylie Jenner and Bella Hadid, you might not expect Danielle Guizio to count the New York City Fire Department as one of her biggest inspirations.
But to hear the young designer tell it, the FDNY was actually a perfect choice of partner for her new capsule collection.
“I wanted to work with someone New York-based because my brand is New York-based, and who’s better than the FDNY?” Guizio told Page Six. “Everything that they stand for, their bravery, their job is to keep New York City safe, so to me there was no one else that I wanted to collaborate with.”
Guizio’s brand typically features lots of glitter, leather and embellishment, however, which isn’t exactly synonymous with firefighters. “I was a little nervous to approach them,” she admitted.
The FDNY was not only receptive to the idea of a collaboration, but also remained involved throughout the design process.
