A Scotia man's truck caught fire on Freeman's Bridge Road Thursday morning, destroying the truck, but leaving the driver uninjured, police said. The incident happened at about 8:00 a.m. The driver was headed down the road when a mechanical issue led his his pickup led him to pull over, assistant Thomas Corners Fire Chief Gregg Petricca said. The driver pulled over in the old Goldstock's Sporting Goods parking lot, where he got out safely to check his engine. When he opened the hood, he saw the flames, Petricca said. Firefighters from Thomas Corners responded and extinguished the blaze. Alplaus firefighters also responded to assist, Petricca said.
