An FDNY lieutenant with a close relationship to the department’s top female boss was first hired as a $219,000-a-year deputy commissioner by a different department that never posted the job, The Post has learned.
The city Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications refused to explain why it never advertised an opening for “Deputy Commissioner of Life Safety Systems.”
“DoITT may or may not post for a deputy commissioner position based on the requirements of the job and identification of the necessary skills to hold the position,” said spokeswoman Stephanie Raphael.
In a rare switch of agencies and ascension in rank, Lt. JonPaul Augier was appointed to DoITT last June 24. He left four months later on Nov. 11 after the FDNY offered him the same job.
