Firefighters in Herkimer have determined a fire that killed three brothers was accidental. Fire Chief John Spanfelner said his investigators ruled the fire "accidental electrical," and believe it started in the basement of the home and quickly spread throughout the house. Meanwhile, Funeral services for Jackson DeCarlis, 1, Richard DeCarlis, 6, and Michael DeCarlis, 7, will be held on Friday at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, in Frankfort. Calling hours will be held Thursday from noon until 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The boys' father and baby Jackson's mother, who is step-mother to Richie and Mikey, escaped the fire that broke out early Friday morning. Firefighters said smoke detectors woke them up, but they couldn't get to the children. Chief Spanfelener said medical examiners ruled all three boys died from smoke inhalation.
