An Ogdensburg man was hospitalized following a fire Sunday night. City police said they're investigating the possibility that a methamphetamine lab touched off the blaze. Ogdensburg fire officials said a city police officer was first on the scene at 312 Ogden Street and got the three occupants out of the home. That happened around 8:20 p.m. “I looked around the corner and I noticed smoke and stuff coming from the house and I said, 'There's this house over here that's on fire,'” said Rodney Pelky, Mansion Avenue resident. Ernest Demers Jr., who was in an upstairs bedroom, was taken to Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center with second- and third-degree burns to his hands. He was later taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, where he was listed in good condition early Monday afternoon.
