A firefighter was injured in a blaze at a home in New Dorp Beach late Monday night.
The fire was reported at 11:30 p.m. at a two-story, 20-by-30-foot home at 3 Wavecrest St. between Dustan Street and Cedar Grove Avenue, according to a spokesman for the FDNY/EMS. The home was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on the scene. The response level was raised to 75 firefighters and EMS personnel and 15 units, the FDNY spokesman said. A firefighter who suffered minor injuries was transported to Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze, the FDNY spokesman said.
The fire was brought under control in about an hour, at 12:34 a.m., and the cause and origin of the blaze are under investigation, according to the FDNY.
