One person taken to hospital after DeWitt house fire, two dogs rescued

Around 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 5, the DeWitt, East Syracuse, Fayetteville and Manlius Fire Departments were called to a residential fire on Buffington Road in DeWitt. Fire crews found a heavy fire at the home and then aggressively attacked the fire inside and searched for people possibly trapped inside. They were able to quickly bring the fire under control, according to the DeWitt Fire District. Two pet dogs were rescued, which were cared for at the scene. One resident was taken to the hospital for evaluation of a minor injury, said the DeWitt Fire District.
