Residents of the Candlelight Lane Apartments in Clay woke up to smoke and banging on doors Monday morning after a portion of the complex caught fire.
At 6:11 a.m., the Moyer's Corners Fire Department was dispatched to the apartment complex for a multiple occupancy fire.
The deputy fire chief reports one person jumped from a second-story window to escape and one firefighter is being treated after becoming overheated.
"I got there, and I seen this fire, AC units were blowing up, fireworks were going off," said neighbor John Fernandez.
The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office reports one resident is in the hospital for smoke inhalation. Unit 27 of the complex is most likely going to be torn down according to officials.
