Firefighters in Struthers worked to control a vacant house fire early Thursday morning. Crews were called about 2 a.m. to a house in the 80 block of Sexton Street. When crews arrived, flames had engulfed the second floor of the house. Firefighters worked to control the fire and prevent it from damaging neighboring houses. A motorists driving by alerted Savannah Miller that the house next door was on fire. “Considering I could feel the heat and smell the smoke, I was afraid our house was going to catch fire. “Miller said. “I was freaking out a little bit. I’ve never seen anything like that before.” No injuries were reported. A cause has not been determined.
