Thirty-six people are signed up to take the entry-level Warren firefighter test Saturday at Warren G. Harding High School, and a similar test is tentatively set for Feb. 4 for entry-level Warren police officers. Each department is expected to add about 15 people during 2017. The tests are among the first steps in fulfilling the promises made to voters by city officials before voters approved an additional half-percent income tax in November. Fire Chief Ken Nussle said his department will interview six or seven people off of an existing civil service list on Tuesday, and the people hired from that list will start in the coming months. Nussle expects to start hiring around March off of the list generated by Saturday’s test.
