Tony Wierzba could only watch Wednesday afternoon as firefighters from multiple departments battled he fire destroying his home.
Three quarters of the home at 2139 Commanche Trail would be gone before they would get the flames knocked down.
A few feet away crying was his 20-year-old granddaughter Hayley who lives with him. “I have to sift through, see what I have left,” Wierzba said, watching in shock as firefighters came in and out of his home.
“I was eating lunch and the power went out.”
The home was on fire.
This is another loss to Wierzba whose wife died a couple years ago of brain cancer and his daughter died last year.
A couple small explosions could be heard coming from the home as it burned, possibly from acetylene tanks Wierzba used in his work on vehicles. A nearby pole with a transformer loomed close to the flames.
