Stu Tudor, a former Lieutenant with the Columbus Fire Department, passed away early Thursday morning more than two years after he was struck by lightning in the parking lot of Mapfre Stadium. Tudor, who was off-duty at the time, had taken part in a charity soccer game at the Columbus Crew SC game one June 28, 2014. Witnesses say he was in the parking lot after the charity game when he was struck. After several weeks in the hospital, Tudor was transferred to a rehabilitation facility for treatment. The firefighter had been living at a nursing home in Hilliard for more than a year when he passed away. The Columbus Fire Department says they are currently working with Tudor's family.
