Several fire departments around Jacobsburg quickly responded to a house fire that broke out along
Main Street Wednesday afternoon.
The homeowner said he was burning papers and it suddenly got out of control.
"My next door neighbor Larry said ‘Get out of there Jack!’ and I said I gotta get the fire out first, I did, knocking over the coffee pot and everything but I don’t drink much coffee anyway," homeowner Jack Skukan said.
Around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday Skukan was burning papers at his home when he decided to take a break.
"My DirectTV came this morning I was just sitting there watching TV and enjoying it, next thing I know smoke started flying and was inside the house, got damp, wet towels and got that out then they called the fire department. And the rest is history I guess," Skukan said.
