Fire destroyed a vacant house early Thursday.
Someone called 911 just before 6 a.m.and reported seeing a house on fire in the 300 block of Rosemont Avenue.
When crews arrived, they found heavy flames and smoke in a wooded area. Seconds later, they spotted heavy fire on the first story of the vacant structure. They struggled to get water on the blaze because the home is set back from the road at the top of a hill, said Cincinnati District 2 Fire Chief Thomas Parker.
It took them 45 minutes to put the fire out.
The home is a total loss, Parker said.
The cause remains under investigation.
