A larch mulch fire was ablaze early Friday morning. The fire started at Kurtz Brothers Mulch Company around 3:30 a.m. Firefighters say when they arrived on scene, the fire fully engulfed a large pile of mulch. According to Washington Township firefighters, the fire was a challenge because of the lack of water on the property. They were forced to call six other fire departments for assistance to get more water on the flames. The Washington Township battalion chief said the fire likely started due to decomposition. No foul play was suspected.
