A 16-year Concord Township Fire Department veteran who died April 17 is being remembered as a light-hearted, heard-working and dedicated member of the public safety community, the loss of whom is already being felt far and wide.
Richard Strunk, 46, died from complications of an unspecified illness he’s been fighting, said Concord Township Fire Chief Matt Sabo in a phone interview April 19.
“He had been ill for the past few months,” Sabo said. “Then, beginning probably around mid-March, his condition began to deteriorate.”
Strunk leaves behind a fiancé and two daughters, ages 10 and 15, Sabo said, adding that his extended, fire-service family is in total shock over Strunk’s passing.
