A Cincinnati firefighter was assaulted while on duty responding to a medical run overnight, a fire official said.
A man punched the firefighter in the eye as he and other first responders got off a fire truck in the 3000 block of West 8th Street near Purcell Avenue about midnight, said District 2 Fire Chief Thomas Parker.
The crew was in the area responding to a report of a sick woman.
They immediately summoned more firefighters to back them up, Parker said.
They also alerted police.
The firefighter, whose name was not released, suffered a swollen eye with a cut underneath it, Parker said.
The firefighter refused transport to a hospital and remained on duty.
He was not available to talk, Parker said: “He’s fine. He stayed working.”
