Yorkville Fire Department will soon be making a major upgrade that is poised to better serve the community.
This truck has been a mainstay at the Yorkville Fire Department since 1989. Now after the community's support, the department will be getting a new one.
They look to add a brand new custom pumper, built from the frame up.
Their current truck, a 1989 model, which was showcased in its manufacturer's calendar 28 years ago, is well past its time.
"It's an open cab, which in today's world is deemed unsafe,” said Yorkville Fire Chief Dana Brown. “There's just not enough protection there for rollovers.
