More than 50 percent of a Newark home was destroyed in a fire Thursday evening, according to Newark Fire Department officials. Newark Fire Chief Pat Connor said when crews arrived at the house on the 400 block of North Cedar Street at about 5:20 p.m., much of the back half of the house was engulfed in flames. No one was injured during the blaze. Connor said a cause was not known Thursday evening and investigators would be examining the scene to determine a cause. It was also too early to tell where the fire had originated.
