Hillsboro police and fire personnel responded Thursday afternoon to West Main Street in the center of town after a truck caught on fire while towing a load of straw. Jim Super of Sugartree Ridge told The Times-Gazette on scene that he was driving his 2001 Dodge Ram 3200 east on Main Street, hauling straw for his chickens, when someone told him the front end of his truck was smoking. Super said there were flames in the lower part of the engine cavity. Firefighters with the Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire District responded and extinguished the blaze while Hillsboro police conducted traffic control.
