The owner of the property where three barns were destroyed and another damaged worked on his woodworking hobby in some of the buildings damaged. Neal Burns owns the property in the 4100 block of White Coppess Road and as firefighters responding to the fire Thursday, smoke could be seen as far as Greenville. Burns used the buildings to build wooden toys and bowls, he told News Center 7’s Steve Baker. There is no damage estimate on the fire or official cause of the flames, however Burns believes it may have been an electrical issue. Crews from 15 fire departments in Darke, Mercer and Randolph counties assisted in the fire fight.
