Fire departments from two counties battled flames at a house just across the Trumbull County line early Thursday.
A passer-by spotted the fire just after 5:30 a.m. at a two-story wood-frame home on the 9700 block of State Route 82 in Windham Township, Portage County.
Firefighters say when they there, flames were pouring from the house.
In spite of the efforts of firefighters from several surrounding communities, including some from Trumbull County, the fire gutted the home.
Fire officials tell 21 News that although the home has been vacant for about ten years, the electricity was still on.
The Portage County Fire Investigation Unit is looking for the cause of the fire.
