Lightning struck three homes in central Ohio overnight, causing fires. No one was hurt in any of the cases. A lightning strike damaged a home in Dublin on Friday morning. Firefighters arrived on Trafalgar Lane shortly after 2:00 a.m. to find heavy smoke coming from a home. A man who lives there said he heard a loud boom and the whole house shook. The smoke detectors went off and he and another person inside got out of the home. The man tells 10TV he smelled smoke but never saw a fire. A fire captain on the scene says their preliminary investigation shows a lightning strike hit a gas line, traveled down into the basement and up into the house. The force of the strike left a hole in the floor. Firefighters say most of the damage was in the basement and to the first floor of the home.
