The Ohio Auditor’s Office is continuing to investigate how nearly $700,000 in emergency medical services funds went unpaid to the township during a two-year period. The state released the financial audit of the township this week. However, the EMS funds are part of an ongoing special investigation, said Dominic Binkley, public information officer at the Auditor’s Office. While the case remains open, no additional information will be released, he said. The township paid C & C Medical Billing, a third-party emergency medical billing service, to bill all services related to EMS service. The township had been working with C & C Medical Building since March 2012. According to the regular audit for the year that ended Dec. 31, 2017, large differences were discovered between the number of invoices billed to the township and the number of emergency runs processed throughout 2016-2017. In other words, the township did not receive payment for some of the services it provided.
